Educational Therapy
We help students learn to use their strengths to overcome their weaknesses in order to alleviate the challenges that learning differences and learning disabilities present. We do this by first assessing each student with an educational evaluation and then by creating a tailor made intervention plan. Some of the learning challenges we can help include: dyslexia; giftedness and twice exceptional learners; auditory processing disorders weaknesses; dysgraphia; dyscalculia; specific learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math; ADHD; and challenges with executive functioning.

Educational Therapy is more targeted and personal than tutoring even when no learning challenges are present. We can target any gaps in learning and create a personalized learning plan to help your student catch up or advance.

Academic Language Therapy

We work with and refer to Speech and Language Therapists when necessary, and we provide academic language therapy that:
-
Teaches reading, study, and testing skills.
-
Utilizes a Multisensory Structured Language approach to integrate visual, auditory, and motor processing with explicit understanding of the structure of the English language, enabling students to develop a solid foundation for reading and writing.
-
Enables students to apply explicit understanding of the structure of the English language (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and orthography), to develop and strengthen both reading and written expression.

Dyslexia Services
Dyslexic students think and learn differently. They also have strengths and weaknesses that making learning to read, writing and spell more difficult. Reading and Academic Language Therapy differs from tutoring in that educational tools are used to actually strengthen neuropathways in the brain to make learning easier. We teach the way dyslexic brains learn.

Reading Therapy
We have close to 20 years of experience teaching reading, writing, and spelling to students with dyslexia. Reading therapy is offered both in person and virtually to people of all ages who want to improve their reading and writing skills. We use a structured literacy approach rooted in Orton-Gillingham methods and promoted by the International Dyslexia Association that is inline with the Science of Reading.
Academic Language Therapy
Our dyslexia specialist is a certified academic language practitioner through ALTA. Academic language therapy explicitly teaches phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, reading fluency, reading comprehension, spelling, handwriting, writing, grammar, and morphology.

Dyslexia Screening
We promote universal dyslexia screening for all learners. Dyslexia is the most common reading disability, and research shows that up to 1 in 5 people have dyslexia. We offer comprehensive dyslexia screening within a full reading, writing, and spelling evaluation. Our evaluations can be used to target specific challenges in phonological processing and rapid naming that are shown to be root weaknesses in dyslexia, and be used to inform families of the next best steps to ensure reading and writing success. We refer to licensed providers for diagnosis.

Assessment is a necessary component included in educational therapy
-
Educational therapy is tailor made for each individual and based off of an evaluations of skills and past history review.
-
Each client receives a full educational evaluation and written report that can be used by schools and other providers to make informed educational decisions.
-
Assessments answer the question of why your child is struggling.
-
We can also assist families and students with the data needed to make informed educational decisions by interpreting and explaining outside evaluations.

We also offer the stand alone service of tailored educational assessments, reading and writing assessments, information processing, math skills, and dyslexia screening.

Sapience refers to licensed practitioners as needed for diagnosis or for support outside of our scope.
